L, M, N, O, P
My cousin, Lisa, got married this past Friday. It was so great! I drove down to Provo with my Aunt Cindy, and got to see my Uncle Leonard and his family. It is always great to get to spend time with family. It is hard being away from home, but it is nice that my parents come from big families, so where ever I go I find a relative to spend time with.
Lisa is an artist, and her reception definitely displayed her talent! I failed to take many pictures, because I was so busy talking to everyone, but I did manage to grab a shot of the flowers on the table.
Cute, right? It was great getting to be there. Usually my family gets married in Arizona, so I keep missing the weddings!
I cut my hair on Tuesday. About 5 inches shorter! Wow! I absolutely love it!
Cute? I think yes. Oh, here's a funny picture:
One final thing. At Grad Night, a little over a year ago, President Clark, the President of BYU-Idaho gave us some great advice. This past week I have made a lot of changes in my life. I will tell you about all of them in another blog. Right now I just wanted to share some of the advice President Clark gave to my graduating class.
One of the first things President Clark encouraged us to do was to have faith, and not fear. Satan wants to plant fear in our hearts and discourage us from following God and his eternal principles. However, God will plant faith in our hearts, and as long as we realize the difference and don't let our lives be ruled by fear, we will be blessed. He told us that as Latter-Day Saints (aka Mormons), our lives would get harder, IF we care what the world thinks. BUT we needed to keep an eternal perspective, and that would keep us from being bogged down by the world's standards, and people's opinions of us. President Clark told us to keep the commandments and honor the covenants we have made. Something he encouraged us to do was write down our standards and if we are ever placed in a work environment where we cannot keep our standards, we needed to leave. We should never lower our standards to please the world, or to get worldly things. He ended by retelling the story of the Children of Israel and the parting of the Red Sea. As he examined the story, he pointed out that the Red Sea was not the direct path, but that was the way God took them. Why did He do this? It's because he was preparing them for later. He was preparing them to rely on Him. We need to remember that God has a plan for our lives, and that He knows us all individually. We need to remember to rely on the Lord, and keep the commandments, and it will all work out in the end.
I have thought a lot about the advice and council President Clark gave this past week. I miss hearing him speak to us. I loved President Clark. He's not perfect, it's true, but I gained so much knowledge from him. I just wanted to share that with you guys.
That's all. Sorry my blog was so random. I just wanted to update you all on my life, and the things I've been thinking about. I've made some big decisions, and although I'm not ready to share them yet, I did want to let you know what was going on in my head a little bit. :)
