Happiness is Just a Teardrop Away

Today at the museum we had the cutest thing ever occur. And I am about to tell the world, because you all deserve to know, and I know that the whole world reads this, so it is basically my duty to tell the story.

Ok, the scene is the Natural History Museum of Utah, front desk in the lobby... yes, that's on the first floor... and yes, we are down there! I know! Surprise, man who works in collections and never comes out to interact with other people.... Anyways, that was a different story. Picture us, at the front desk, sitting there- well, standing when anyone came in. I wouldn't want to look casual in front of the visitors....- selling tickets, and sharing the latest museum news, when this guy and his daughter came in to visit the museum. The little girl was wearing a cute purple top, with adorable little boots, and was clutching a white rabbit stuffed animal. You could tell the rabbit was very loved by how worn it looked. She and her father, whose name was Dan, bought their tickets and went in to the museum. We did not see them again... ever... Hahaha, just kidding! That would be a creepy story. And this is definitely not a creepy story. This is a "good always triumphant's" story.

Ok, so they left, and then maybe an hour or two later they both came down to the front desk. The beloved rabbit had been misplaced, and the father was frantic to find it. We told them we had not had anything returned, but he should check back before they left, because we might have found it by then. They returned to the museum, and came back a while later, ready to leave, with no sign of the rabbit at all. The poor little girls face was soo sad, I almost started crying. You could tell she really loved that bunny, and was distraught to have lost it. The father, Dan, wrote his name and number and told us to call him if we found it. We all were heartbroken, watching the two walk out of the museum without the little rabbit in tow.

I didn't even seem like five minutes had passed before the rabbit was found. We hurried and called the number Dan had left. Well, I called it, haha, cuz I'm awesome like that. Anyways, he answered on the first ring, and I wish the world could have heard his sigh of relief and the thank you he gave when I informed him that we had found the lost bunny, and were holding it at the front desk for them. He told me it was the best news he had heard all day. It was so sweet. They showed up maybe five minutes later and the rabbit was returned to its owner. I literally had tears in my eyes. She looked sooo happy. The way she clung to the bunny made me wonder how she had ever let go of it anyways, but then I remembered how awesome the museum was, and realized she was probably blown away by all the really great exhibits we have there.

It was the cutest story ever, and I just had to share it with you all because it was so sweet! I wish I had taken a picture to remember the little girl and her rabbit... Oh well. What did you all learn? Basically the Visitor Services staff at the museum rock. We can find anything!!!... except the Mormon Cricket...
